Abstract Art is defined as an aesthetic quality or manner rather than a visual representation; it may be an aimless form which lacks originality or recognizability but still achieves beauty and moods because it expresses its emotions through universal description rather than interpretation. For this reason, many people enjoy exploring abstract painting without having any specific intentions for their own works.
The style of Abstract Expressionism was developed by artists working in New York during the 1940s and 1950s. Key members of this group were Jackson Pollock, Willem de Kooning, Franz Kline, Robert Motherwell and Mark Rothko.
